I am committed to advocacy, transparency, and fostering a strong united voice for MTS members and Public Education. Together we can navigate challenges, celebrate successes, and ensure the profession remains valued and supported. I am dedicated to working as a team to strengthen MTS supports to Members, protecting our rights as Educators, and listening to the voices of Members across the Province. Your experiences and concerns matter. I am here to listen, support, collaborate as a team, and take actions towards positive change. I look forward to continuing this conversation with you and listening to your perspectives. I believe that elected leaders need to listen with an open-mind and an open-heart to make the best decisions and achieve successful results on behalf of the Members they serve. – Nicole Bobick

As an MTS member you deserve the best advocacy, the best representation, and the best supports and resources. You need the best Provincial Executive team to make this happen. The best teams have individuals with diverse strengths and skills. When the right combination of people come together, high functioning and performance teams are established. Healthy Child Coordinator and Sensory Gym Teacher Swan Valley School Division, Swan River, MB Feb. 2022-Present | As Swan Valley School Division’s Healthy Child Program Coordinator I facilitate a program called Better Beginnings. This program is for families with preschool children ages 0-6. Better Beginnings is funded by the MB Department of Families and the program goal is to promote growth of gross motor, fine motor, literacy, numeracy and social-emotional skills through play. As Sensory Gym Teacher I facilitate programs for students K-12 that enhance development through play and physical activity and designed with specific occupational, physiotherapy, or social-emotional goals in mind. Math and Life Skills Teacher Grades 9-12 SVSD, Swan River, MB Sept. 2021 – Feb. 2022 | During this time I was tasked with creating and delivering recovery education plans for students who were low or non-attenders during the COVID pandemic. I was asked to catch-up students who needed instruction in math. As a life skills teacher I worked with students on resume and portfolio building, communication skills, and other skills needed to acquire a jobs. |
Online Distance Learning Teacher Grades 5/6 SVSD and the Western Learning Consortium, Swan River, MB Sept. 2020 – June 2021 | During COVID I was tasked with teaching students online who could not attend school in person. The grade 5/6 students were from various MB school divisions who needed accommodations to learn from home via zoom as they were or family members living with them were at high risk due to medical conditions or treatments. |
Behaviour Intervention Teacher Taylor School, SVSD, Swan River, MB Sept. 2019 – June 2020 | For this school year I was tasked with creating an emotional regulation sensory room for students who needed assistance developing these skills or a quiet place to work one on one. We worked on building skills and practices for self-regulation, communication, self-esteem, social and emotional literacy and goal setting. |
Grade 5 Classroom Teacher Taylor School, SVSD, Swan River, MB Sept. 2018 – June 2019 | With Birch River School closing I was relocated to a Grade 5 classroom at Taylor School. Grade 5 is one of my favourite grades to teach. I especially enjoy the social studies and science outcomes. Middle school teachers need to be witty and have creative ways to teach and engage students. I like the challenge of maintaining middle years students’ focus on tasks and finding ways to inspire and motivate them to complete the learning activities. |
Principal/Resource Teacher Birch River School, Birch River, MB Sept. 2014 – June 2018 | As a Principal and Resource Teacher of a remote rural school with multi-grade classrooms, I utilized my previous leadership experience. I set goals to build strong positive relationships with colleagues, create efficient and effective communication, develop collaboration within a team, build trust, and create an environment where teachers felt heard, supported, and respected. |
Grade 2 Classroom Teacher Heyes School, SVSD, Swan River, MB Sept. 2013 – June 2014 | This was my first teaching position where I had MTS to support me and protect my rights as a teacher. I was inspired to help advocate for teachers and was asked to join our local executive as the New Teacher Liaison. Since then, I have been a dedicated member of the SVTA local executive. I have tremendous respect for early years teachers, especially Kindergarten teachers! The students are young, with many developmental, academic and social-emotional needs. There is such a range of academic levels within one classroom, I think elementary teachers are rock stars! |
Principal/Education Director Chief Charles Audy Memorial School, Wuskwi Sipihk First Nation Sept. 2012 – June 2013 | As Education Director I was responsible for all educational programing K-8, hiring and contracts for all staff, placement and support for all distance education high school students, all payments to be processed and sent to university students, payments to school divisions and universities for tuition, be accountable to Chief and Council as well as the local School Board, managing budgets and report on the educational budget of 1.72 million. As the Principal I was responsible for scheduling and support to all staff, setting school budgets, helping teachers with classroom management, communicating with parents and working with the school board regarding school year plans. |
Grade 5-8 Teacher/Principal Chief Charles Audy Memorial School, Wuskwi Sipihk First Nation Oct. 2010 – Sept. 2012 | After teaching approximately 2 weeks at Chief Charles Audy School I was promoted to Teacher/Principal and began weekly administrative training with the Education Director who had over 35 years in school leadership positions. I continued training for 2 years. I gained valuable knowledge including how to responsibly manage budgets, hiring practices, communications skills, and administrative practices and process. What I cherish most was the relationships I developed with students and community members. |
Grade 3 Classroom Teacher Colegio Ingles, Monterrey, MX July 2008 – July 2010 | While working in Mexico, I learned many teaching strategies and tools, especially regarding classroom management, efficient and engaging programing, assessment strategies and report card writing. My classroom was physically small, 30 students and no Educational Assistants worked at the school. Our report cards went home 4 times a year and as this was a private school each subject had to have a minimum of 800 words to report on student learning. We had 30 minute parent teacher meetings 3 times a year. I contribute my ability to write clear and detailed report card comments and run efficient and effective meetings to my time teaching in Mexico. |
Substitute Teacher Various Schools, SVSD, Swan Valley, MB April 2008 – June 2008 Sept. 2010 – Oct. 2010 | While working as a Substitute Teacher I worked in as many schools as possible. I gained valuable strategies and tools experiencing different school environments and teaching styles. I was lucky to have many mentors helping and supporting me as a new Teacher. |
My belief is that we are community leaders and it is our responsibility as Educators to model citizenship and professionalism, to inspire others, and to advocate for equity and inclusion. It takes all of us working together to create a healthy community. If elected, as a MTS Provincial Executive member, I will bring those values to the PX table and advocate for members across the Province. – Nicole Bobick

I want to send my sincere gratitude to the Swan Valley Teachers’ Association Executive for endorsing my campaign and allowing me space on the SVTA website. As SVTA President, I am always grateful for the steadfast support you provide me, the guidance you give me and of course the work you do on behalf of members. At the core of MTS are the many dedicated local executive members. Across the province they advocate for teachers within their region and provincewide by bringing perspectives to MTS and making sure voices are heard on behalf of their educator colleagues.
